The security device is for motor car race tracks and comprises a flat catchment component (1) extending to the ground (2) of the track. A holding construction (3) is provided on which the rear side of the catchment component extends with a corresponding catchment area (4). The catchment component is a net (6) together with a lower holding cord (7) arranged close to the ground. Opposite to the lower holding cord is an upper holding cord and between the two cords the net extends. Outside the catchment area, at least one brake device (5) of the friction type is formed.
