Academia has its own gold rushes, and today it is China. The speed of growth in studies on Chinese tourism in recent years has been as remarkable as the growth of the country's economy. In contrast, tourism in India and the rest of South Asia seems to be receiving less attention. The recent volume Raj Rhapsodies by Carol Henderson and Maxine Weisgrau, which examines heritage and tourism in Rajasthan, is therefore a welcome contribution.
