摘要

Building upon the developing literature on disaster reduction strategies, the topic of this volume is innovative and of increasing interest: our global vulnerability to hazards of natural origins. The book is the result of the debate within the United Nations University Environment and Human Security (UNUEHS) Working Group in Kobe (January 2005) and Bonn (October 2005) and is composed of a series of contributions by several authors. The book consists of five sections and 24 chapters, dealing with several different considerations to measuring vulnerability.
