A nostalgic delve into areas of east London, many of which have subsequently undergone massive transformation. The co-authors had previous personal attachments to the area which is covered by a comprehensive range of well reproduced photographs. Their active North London Railway Historical Society meets in central London and intends to continue to promote interest in the lines, many of which have now been adopted into London Overground. The long-closed main line terminal, Broad Street, and its operation and demolition, is given a significant place in the narrative and is covered by many photographs, plans and drawings.
