The publication under review represents a recent study by Dr. Karl P. Sauvant and Dr. Federico Ortino dedicated to key problems of international investment law and policy. Given the large volume of books, articles, reports and all kinds of studies on international investment law, the reviewed publication is somewhat outstanding. It attempts a concise review of existing problems and provides guidance for the future. Indeed, as the authors note themselves, the global economy is driven, to a large extent, by international investment, and the existing international investment law and policy regime "faces a number of critical issues". Few researchers call those critical issues a crisis of the regime (neither do the authors), yet in almost every publication there are calls for changes and reforms essential for the regime's very survival. Sauvant and Ortino manage to summarize the most popular ideas and suggestions on the topic and to suggest some new ones.
