摘要

This book presents a state-of-the-art overview of sociolinguistic studies of Spanish in contact with other languages in Spain, Latin America and the United States. The subject matter isrnintroduced clearly and concisely without sacrificing in-depth analysis of the most important theoretical questions. While both Klee and Lynch have, themselves, done considerable work in the area, they provide an impartial survey of differing perspectives, often suggesting fruitful avenues for further research. In each chapter, they summarise the relevant sociohistorical facts in a particular context, and then review variationist and macro-sociolinguistic studies of contact on regional varieties of Spanish.
