A book on theory can be dry and academic for the nonacademicrnreader. Such is not the case for Scharmer’s book,rnTheory U: Leading From the Future as it Emerges. OttornScharmer has developed an intense and dynamic perspectivernon the multiple crises facing society and leaders. He takes thernreader on a field journey into the realm of open mind, openrnheart, and open will. He creates layers of thinking and theoryrnincorporating phenomenology, dialogue, and collaborativernaction research around a new science called presensing, or thernability to connect with a higher source, a place in the future ofrnour knowing. Presensing is a “blending of ‘presence’ and ‘sensing.’rnIt means to sense, tune in, and act from one’s highestrnfuture potential—the future that depends on us to bring it intornbeing” (p. 8).
