Compression of CQI Feedback in Adaptive Correlated MIMO-OFDM Systems

For wideband multiple input multiple output orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (MIMO-OFDM) systems, adaptive modulation and coding (AMC) is a promising technique to improve the throughput performance. To achieve the throughput gain, it is necessary to feedback channel quality indication (CQI) information. However, there requires a high feedback overhead of CQI information for MIMO-OFDM systems. In this paper, a novel CQI compression feedback method is proposed bayed on the recently proposed theory of compressive sensing (CS) in adaptive correlated MIMO-OFDM system. Simulation results verity that the performance of the proposed method is superior to the compression feedback method based on the discrete cosine transform (DCT) which is widely employed.
