Yesterday, the National Industrial Transportation League (NITL) and the American Trucking Association presented a webinar describing the reasons for their opposition to the proposed Hours of Service of Drivers rule which was published last month by FMCSA as a notice of proposed rule making (NPRM) in the Federal Register (75 FR 82170-82198). The presentation by Rob Abbot, ATA Vice President of Safety Policy, provided a brief background on the development of the NPRM, described the provisions of the NPRM, and the problems that the trucking industry predicted would occur if the NPRM provisions were adopted as a final rule.
