FCC Adopts NPRM on Access To Services for Deaf-Blind

The FCC has adopted a notice of proposed rulemaking seeking comments on the establishment of a program that will use interstate telecommunications relay service (TRS) funds for the purchase of specialized customer premises equipment (CPE) for deaf and blind individuals so they can access the latest telecommunications and communications services. Comments are due Feb. 4 and replies Feb. 12 in CG docket 10-210. Establishment of the National Deaf-Blind Equipment Distribution Program (NDBEDP) is required by section 105 of the Twenty-First Century Communications and Video Accessibility Act of 2010.
