Entities Disagree on Timing Of NPRM on 5G Services

Advocates of terrestrial wireless broadband services disagree with satellite companies about whether the FCC should adopt a notice of proposed rulemaking on 5G services before the 2015 World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC-15) in November. In an ex parte filing last month in GN docket 14-177, Intel Corp. said the FCC should adopt the NPRM in its millimeter wave band proceeding before WRC-15, saying it "could encourage other countries to become more supportive in the new 5G agenda item discussions at the WRC-15." In another ex parte filing last month, Samsung Electronics America, Inc., said it agreed with Intel.
