The implementation of environmental standards for electronics products, such as the Restrictions of the use of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) directive and the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH), has become increasingly strict nowadays. Various considerations regarding environmental protection are demanded for solder application, besides the use of lead-free solder. Today, basic corporate policies toward environmental protection are being pursued in addition to compliance with related regulations and laws.
