Singapore Technologies Marine (ST Marine) has emerged as the winner of an international competition to supply four 75 m offshore patrol vessels (OPVs) to the Royal Navy of Oman (RNO) under its Project Al-Ofouq programme. Under an SGD880 million (USD698 million) contract awarded by the Omani Ministry of Defence and announced by the company on 9 April, ST Marine will build the ships to a design based on its proprietary Fearless class. The project will start immediately, with the first OPV expected to be delivered in the second quarterof2015andtheflnal vessel in the third quarter of 2016, the company said. The Al-Ofouq contract also calls for the provision of associated logistics support for the RNO.
