Indian Army begins to bolster its defences along northeastern border with China

India has begun reinforcing the defences along its northeastern border with China as military tensions between the nucleararmed neighbours continue in the Himalayas, despite the completion of a mutually agreed withdrawal of troops from a bitterly contested area in the northwestern Ladakh region. Official sources told Janes on 18 February that the Indian Army (IA) aims to bolster and restructure its formations in the country's northeast over the next three months by moving them closer to the disputed Line of Actual Control (LoAC) and raising an additional armoured brigade in Sikkim State.
