PLA ground forces look to enhance combat readiness

China's People's Liberation Army (PLA) ground forces are aiming to improve their combat readiness and capability by increasing the frequency and complexity of their military exercises, the China Daily newspaper reported on 10 April. A total of 15 PLA infantry, artillery, and air defence brigades took part in more than 100 live-fire exercises in 2016, at the height of which more than 400,000 troops conducted drills on plateaus, islands, mountains, and in deserts, the paper quoted the PLA ground forces as saying.
