RUSSELL ACKOFF'S CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE MANAGEMENT SCIENCES

There were many systems thinkers in the second half of twentieth century, but just a few of them were wise. Russell Ackoff was one of them - a great teacher and an outstandingthinker and systems scientist. His brilliance originated from his systems philosophy and concept of systems approach. His view extended from simple and clear solutions to the variety of complex problems. Russell remained a creative person with his systems approach concept: a goal, a purpose, and relation of the entity within the whole. He always argued that whole is more than parts and complex dynamic system is always open and must be considered as a part of the higher systems.
