摘要

Cora Du Bois (1903-91) is well known for her pioneering efforts in socio-psychological anthropology with her major work on an island in the Netherlands East Indies, The people of Alor (1944). Less known is her collection of Alor material culture for the Gothenburg [Gteborgs] Museum in Sweden during her fieldwork (1938-39). The collection is now at the Museum of World Culture in Gothenburg. Du Bois' unpublished research material at Harvard University, where she was a professor, includes extensive fieldnotes on Alor material culture and rich photographic documentation. This article describes a research project which aims to reconnect the objects in the collection and the information recorded by Du Bois with that of views on local material culture held by contemporary informants in Alor.
