That's the mantra of an LED lamp maker who is coaxing commercial users to try its brand for free. Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.-based Kumho Electric USA is offering a 30-day free trail of its direct replacement LED T8 to commercial customers in an effort to convince specifiers and maintenance personnel that its four-foot fluorescent replacement provides the quality of light they expect in such light sources. Kumho's EarthCare lamp does not require rewiring, is tested to UL standards, and reportedly has an efficiency of over 100 Im/W. "Only by seeing LED T8 replacements at work in their own fixtures can end-users fairly evaluate the suitability of any particular brand as a replacement for a fluorescent in their application," explains Alan Medak, general manager. Working with the most common instant-start ballasts, the EarthCare T8 does not require special handling or rewiring.
