In the world of home cinema, the push for perfection is unrelenting. Take high definition displays for example, which seem to be popping up everywhere in different guises. And a browse in any major electrical retailer reveals the future plans of Sky and others to broadcast HDTV in the UK of all places -whatever next? But for now, we live in a 'standard definition' world, trapped in the archaic standards of PAL and NTSC and their digital component cousins. So with HD displays available right now, how do manufacturers hope to fill such large, high resolution displays with the output of lower resolution sources like DVD, broadcast TV and even VHS tape?
