"Uncreative Destruction" (Dec. 24, p. 48) suggests some comical alternatives to alleviate the current difficulties in the mortgage industry. For most Americans, who already have problems understanding financial minutiae contained in contracts, the solution is easy: Save toward your 10% down payment, then buy a home. Otherwise, please rent. The mortgage industry is now suffering from imaginative ideas. It doesn't need more of them.
