The new edition of Energy Law in Europe comes at a critical time in the progression of energy law in the European Union and its Member States. First published in 2001, as the result of a sustained and coordinated work from both academics and legal practitioners from various EU jurisdictions, this collection of essays offered a then unique systematic presentation of the ongoing process of opening and restructuring of the energy market within the European Union and the correlated reforms of energy law and policy of the various Member States. The publication of the first edition was - reportedly (by one of the authors) - deferred as the result of the constant and rapid changes in the law in this sector both at the European and national levels, and the need for a second edition was evident even before the first edition arrived on the bookshelves.
