Empowerment-inspired patient education in practice and theory

摘要

The Hillerod Programme has held empowerment-inspired courses for type 2 diabetes patients, in group settings, since 2003. The courses take patients through a 1-year programme consisting of three modules (4 days, 2 days and 1 day). The programme aims to help individuals to discover and develop an inborn capacity to monitor and control type 2 diabetes, and to realise why lifestyle changes are necessary. This paper describes the methods employed in the Hillerod Programme.
