No 30 per cent CO_2 target before Durban, says Poland

The EU will not propose to increase its 2020 CO_2 emissions reduction target before the next global climate summit in November, the Polish Environment Minister has said. Speaking after a meeting last week with EU Climate Action Commissioner Connie Hedegaard, Andrzej Kraszewski said that the EU will keep its options open during the international climate talks in Durban, South Africa, that will take place from 28 November to 9 December. Since Poland takes over the Council's rotating presidency on 1 July, it will be at the helm of the EU delegation to the South African climate talks.
