What's so important about music education?

Just as in the United Kingdom, music as a secondary school curricular subject in the United States of America is also deemed as not sufficiently important to warrant sustained support. In this book, Goble evaluates the various historical and philosophical conceptions of music and music education in the US to enable educators to provide material that is consistent, relevant, and engaging for students, as well as underlining the importance of its place in public schools.
