Demand Heats Up in the Middle East: Burgeoning development spurs district cooling growth

As you are reading this article, many of you in the United States and across the northern hemisphere have turned on your heaters and are looking forward to warmer post-winter days. Not here in the Middle East, where the meteorologist has one of the easiest jobs on the planet - announcing "Clear blue skies, and it's hot again!" - day after sun-drenched day. A chilly winter in many parts of the Middle East is a high just short of 77 degrees F for approximately two months of the year; summer is a long, drawn-out period with highs in excess of 120 F. Admittedly it is not only the climate that is keeping district cooling in the mindset of corporations and individuals; it is also the pure enormity of development and even the attention-grabbing ways that the region's visionaries have developed to defy furnace-like summer heat.
