Enhancing Thai Teacher's Understanding and Instruction of the Nature of Science

This study examined the effects of PD program on Thai teacher's views and their NOS's instruction. The program consisted of 2 phases to developing teacher's understanding and teacher's instruction by using Explicit Teaching Approach. Participants were 15 teachers. The methods consisted of workshops and lesson plan models. The researcher tracked the changes in the pre- and post- views by using the VNOS-C and interviews. To evaluate teacher's understanding of the NOS, their views were collected and analyzed to find how their understanding has changed and how they addressed NOS in their lesson plans. It was found that after the teachers attended the program, their NOS's understanding and instruction had improved. This result indicates that teacher's understanding and instruction was enhanced by attended the PD program.? 2013 Published by Elsevier Ltd.
