Exploring the Effects of Active Job Characteristics on Employee’ Work Alienation and Work Performance ——Employment Form as Moderator

This study explored the effect mechanism active job characteristics on employee’ work alienation and work performance (task performance and organizational citizenship behavior). This study examined that work alienation was as a mediator between active job characteristics and subordinate’work performance(task performance and organizational citizenship behavior), and also analyzed the moderation effect between active job characteristics and employee’ work alienation. The results of statistical analysis from 380 sets of subordinates and their immediate supervisors matching questionnaires showed: (1)Active job characteristics has a significant negative impact on subordinate’s work alienation. (2)Work alienation has a significant negative impact on subordinate’s task performance and organizational citizenship behavior. (3)Work alienation is as partly mediators between active job characteristics and task performance, between active job characteristics and organizational citizenship behavior. (4)Employment form moderates the relationship between active job characteristics and subordinate’s work alienation. Active job characteristic has a stronger negative influence on subordinate’s work alienation in dispatch workers sub-sample than contract workers sub-sample.
