Education of the Gifted/Talented Students in Nigeria: A Justification

Gifted and talented individuals are cognitively prepared and ready for advanced learning. Educating this peculiar individuals has a lot of benefits for the individuals, the society and the country at larger. This paper focused on the justification for gifted/talented education. It x-rayed the need for nurturing environment for gifted/talented learners with a view to bringing out the best from the individuals and the society. It also delved into the advantages of educating gifted/talented learners in our country. It was concluded that any attention given to the education of gifted and talented student in Nigeria is an investment that will definitely be rewarding and beneficial to the country in the nearest future. As a result, it was recommended that governments, non-governmental organizations and philanthropists should be actively involved in this task. Keywords: Education, gifted, talented, justification
