Creating adaptive online learning materials with the QuizPort module for Moodle

As a way to cater for an increasingly diverserange of abilities and demographicbackgrounds in tertiary education, whileat the same time promoting effi ciency andtransparency in classroom administration,online learning management systems (LMS),such as Moodle, hold great potential for theteacher willing to incorporate a degree oftechnology into his or her teaching practice.One exciting possibility that these systemsoff er is to allow students to interact withmultimedia materials which are not onlyengaging but also ubiquitously availablevia the Internet. However, the very fact thatan LMS can be accessed anytime from anywherevia the web often means that the LMSas a whole, and the content creation toolsof the LMS in particular, are based on staticweb-pages which can be slow and cumbersomefor editing tasks. It is often far easierfor teachers to create content outside ofthe LMS, using content authoring softwarewith which they are familiar such as HotPotatoes, and then import that content intothe LMS.
