Is it possible to define Norway’s part of the Reformation commemoration in the double monarchy of Denmark-Norway before 1817? The two countries shared a common culture, legislation, and confession, so it may be sufficient to admit that the reformation festivities in Norway were followed less attentively by the authorities than in Denmark. On a symbolic level, Norway played an important role as an expression of the extreme North in the self-image of the double monarchy. Norway was not absent in the commemorations of the double monarchy, it was included in the dynamics between the two countries.
