Synthesis and optical properties of alumina thin films with rainbow stripes structural colors

Aluminathinfilmswithrainbowstripedstructuralcolorshavebeenfabricatedbyone-stepelectrochemicaloxidationofAlfoil.Therelationshipsofthecolorsanddensityofrainbowstripeswiththeoxidationvoltageandtimeinoxalicacidsolution,aswellastheangleofthecathodeandanodearediscussed.Atheoreticalstudyofthechangesincolorsanddensityofrainbowstripesisconsistentwiththeexperimentalresults.Thetestresultsofpolarizationshowthatreflectedinterferencelightfromthetopandbottomsurfacesofaluminathinfilmsarelinearlypolarized.Thesefilmsweresynthesizedusingasimplifiedprocessandhaspotentialapplicationinopticaldisplaytechnology,polarizers,analyzers,decorationsandanti-counterfeiting.
