In November 2017, a decision was made to shut down the upstream operations（from blast furnace tocontinuous casters) of the Kobe Works and to consolidate these operations at the Kakogawa Works.Prior to the consolidation, the capacity of the No.2 Bloom Mill at the Kakogawa Works was enhancedto establish the system for supplying billets to the wire rod mill and the bar mill in the Kobe Works.The enhancement involved adding furnaces, revamping the continuous billet mill, and expanding thecooling tables and billet yard. These facilities were launched in January 2017 and have been operatingsmoothly since then.
