Twoexperimentsweredevelopedwiththeobjectiveofstudyingthepossiblenbsp;probioticeffectoftheproteinbiomass,obtainedbythemixedcultivationofyeastsandlacticacidbacterial(Lactobacillusacidophilus)inquot;Bquot;molasses.nbsp;Inthefirstexperiment,nbsp;159pigletswereused,distributedin5treatmentsandinthesecondexperiment18sowswereusedinthelastweekofgestationandtheir180pigletsdistributedintwotreatments:A,subjectedtothenormalsystemoftheswineunit;nbsp;andB,given5mloftheprobioticnbsp;producttothetreatedpigsand20mlfortothetreatedsows.Thedesignwastotallyrandomizedinbothexperiments.Inthefirstexperimentasignificantdecreasewasobtainedintheincidenceofdiarrhea,14pigsaffectedinthegroupcontrolandnbsp;2to3intheexperimentaltreatment.Therewere11deathsinthecontroltreatmentandnoneintheprobiotictreatment.nbsp;Thegainofweightwashigherintheprobiotictreatmentthaninthecontrol.Similarresultswereobtainedinthesecondexperiment,wheretherewasadecrease(p0.01)oftheincidenceofdiarrheainpigletsreceivingtheprobiotic.nbsp;Atotalof31pigswasaffectedinthetreatmentcontrolandonly5inthetreatmentwithprobiotic.Therewasnomortalityintheprobiotictreatmentbuttherewere24deathsinthecontrol.nbsp;Thegaininweightwassuperior(p0.05)fortheprobiotictreatment(4.7kgversus3.6kginthecontrol.nbsp;Bothexperimentsconfirmedthebeneficialeffectsoftheprobiotictreatment.
