Building capacity in a health sciences library to support global health projects

This paper describes how a large, academic healthsciences library built capacity for supporting globalhealth at its university and discusses relatedoutcomes. Lean budgets require prioritization andorga nizational strategy. A committee, with leadershipresponsibilities assigned to one librarian, guidedstrategic planning and the pursuit of collaborative,global health outreach activities. A website featurescase studies and videos of user stories to promotehow library partnerships successfully contributed toglobal health projects. Collaborative partnershipswere formed through outreach activities and fromfollow-up to reference questions. The committee anda librarian's dedicated time established the library'scommitment to help the university carry out itsambitious global agenda
