A high speed bit stream generator for HDTV

In developing high speed digital video decoder systems such as MPEG I, II, multimedia decoder or high-definition TV (HDTV), it is essential to have a real time data stream generation apparatus. In this paper, a real time bit stream generator using conventional SCSI-II type hard disc is proposed and implemented, and its effectiveness is verified in developing the prototype HDTV decoder system. The design concept and implementation are described. The bit stream generator and HDTV decoder had been successfully demonstrated.
