There has been a turnaround planning approvals across the East Midlands over the past 11 months, centred on the industrial, health, private housing and retail sectors. However, having posting an 82 per cent rise in the first three months of 2010, the value of approvals fell 2 per cent year on year in the three months to August, possibly marking the beginning of a decline. More encouraging, private housing recorded a year-on-year rise in starts of more than 250 per cent during Ql 2010, slowing to a 31 per cent rise for the three months to August.
