Method for tensioning a drum patch having a drum patch membrane fixed to an annular frame, comprising the steps of: a. inserting a tension ring (8) comprising a cylindrical rod (40) formed in a flat circular configuration and an expansion element (38) to expand the diameter of the tension ring (8) within the membrane fixed to the annular frame of the drum patch, against the drum patch membrane; and b. activate the expansion element (38) to expand the diameter of the tension ring (8) against the membrane.
