CN's 2018 Specialists Index offers highly encouraging signs for the leading firms, with many enjoying healthy increases in both revenue and margin. These results are all the worthier of celebration against the backdrop of Brexit uncertainty. Digging into the sectoral data, there is much to admire. Ground engineering enjoyed a median margin of 8.5 per cent - up 3ppt on the top 10's previous results. This more than compensates for a slight dip in revenue and shows that an enhanced planning process on complex jobs with thorough de-risking pays dividends.
