We launched Cleantech magazine four years ago with a 'Clean Motoring' special. What a difference a few years make! At that time, biofuels were still 'in vogue' and diesel was expected to make inroads into the US car market, as it had in Europe. Since then, the west has suffered a major recession, resulting in the bailout of the US car industry. One outcome of the recession has been massive support for battery investment in the US from the Obama administration as part of the 'Green New Deal'. Meanwhile, West Coast venture capitalists have backed a host of EV start-ups. And Warren Buffett has invested in a Chinese EV manufacturer.
