Some clean technologies are becoming competitive with traditional technologies. The Boston Consulting Group ask: "Could the future be closer than we think?"The World Economic Forum has recently published a discussion paper entitled "From Collision to Vision: Climate Change and World Trade", in conjunction with the COP 16 in Cancun. The paper's authors, Richard Samans and Dominic Waughray, discuss the challenge of reconciling trade and climate change goals. They point out that the World Trade Organization (WTO) agenda for the Doha Development Round includes efforts to reduce or eliminate tariff and non-tariff barriers to trade in environmental products.
