Sherwin-Williams to Buy Arch's Industrial Wood Coatings Unit

Sherwin-Williams (SW) has agreed to buy Arch Chemical's industrial wood coatings business for E40 million ($54 million) in cash. Arch's industrial wood coatings business trades under the Sayerlack brand and is headquartered at Pianoro, Italy. The unit reported sales of $147 million last year, and will join SW's global chemical coatings division. SW does not break out sales for its global chemical coatings division, which is part of the global finishes group. The company attributes the loss to impairment charges and a loss it took on the dissolution of a foreign subsidiary.
