The canal & river trust has a new head of boating, as part of what it describes as a 'streamlining' of its boating teams. Mike Grimes was brought into CRT (following a career with British Airways) earlier this year as Head of Business Boating, replacing Phil Spencer who was due to retire. Business boating has now been combined with CRT's licensing and enforcement departments, and Mr Grimes has been appointed to head up the merged operation. He is the Trust's first Head of Boating since Sally Ash retired in 2014 - although the role is not exactly the same: CRT describes it as "focused on putting the customer first".
