Canal & River Trust boss Robin Evans has spoken about the 'big danger' of bowthrusters to canal banks. He raised the topic in an interview with Canal Boat columnist Steve Haywood who had challenged him on whether the growing number of boats presented a threat to the fabric of canals. Mr Evans spontaneously brought up the question of bowthrusters as an example of how it was ill usage of the waterways, not the number of boats on them, which was the problem. He said: "A lot of our banks are soft and when people put their bowthrusters on it really has a big impact on them."
