Berlin drivers complain about their'smelly' Citeas

Around 80 drivers working for Berlin's BVG municipal have complained to their employer that VDL Citea single-deckers in the fleet smell of cat urine, leading to headaches, nausea and respiratory problems. BVG says it is aware of isolated cases involving brand-new Citea LLEs. These make extensive use of composites for the floor, ceiling and main side panels in order to save weight. But it says two expert reports have since ruled out health risks and drivers were told the odour will fade in time.
