Double-deck VDL Citea for Berlin

VDL is building a prototype Citea double-decker for Berlin city transport undertaking BVG for trials against its recently delivered Scania Citywide seed vehicle, which is already operating in the western part of the German capital. The Citea DLF (double-deck low floor) will use the same lightweight modular concept as the Citea LLE two-door single-decker, which BVG purchased in bulk after lengthy field tests. The first 40 of 236 LLEs due by 2019 entered service in January. The Finnish-built Scania, type CN280DU and numbered 3094 in the BVG fleet, was first seen in service in late March on route X34, linking the Kladow suburb with Zoo station.
