摘要

While we understand and share Mr. Spielvogel's concern regarding the lack of measured data, air barriers in the United States are still a relatively new concept, and as such little data exists on their in-place performance (this is true of any new building system or concept). A study by NIST (Emmerich, McDowell, and Anis, 2005) showed that for most build-rning types, reducing air leakage through the enclosure could result in significant savings. Research is currently under way by ASHRAE and others to provide field-measured data and help to expand thernbody of knowledge on this topic.
