Solar panels and hybrids cut BMW's CO_2 emissions

A concept car demonstrates BMW's plans to improve its vehicles' fuel efficiency. The Vision EfficientDynamics prototype is a mild-hybrid version of the X5 with a twin-turbo diesel, eight-speed automatic and solar panels on the roof. Forthcoming European legislation will impose progressively tighter limits for average CO_2 emissions.
