It is important to note that when they say 'architectural education' the editors of this book really mean the education of architects. After all, an Architectural Technology professional will undertake architectural education, but you will not find the briefest mention of our profession in this collection of essays on the subject. The epilogue of this book begins with This book was designed for immediate obsolescence' although one wonders whether this is wishful thinking rather than reality and whether some of the really very good ideas put forward will remain just that, good ideas only. On the face of it this book looks like heavy reading, with a foot firmly in the academic and the almost repetitive use of pedagogy in all the essays when in reality one suspects 'teaching' has been edited out on multiple occasions. However, that aside I found this book to be a fascinating collection of sub-chapters broadly based around four main themes of architectural education. Each sub-chapter or essay is written by separate commentators and these range from academic tutors to recently qualified students and experienced practitioners.
