In the last 15 years, there are growing signs and symptoms of deterioration in the massive and standardized model of tourism, particularly when it comes to the coastal areas. Butler (1980) is noted as one of the theoretical references in regards to the life cycle of tourist destinations. With these precedents, Renovation and Restructuring of Tourist Destinations in Coastal Areas: Analysis, Processes, Instruments, and Realities", an anthology by Vera and Rodriguez is presented. The topic of stagnation in tourist destinations is of key relevance in countries that have been developing their tourism sector for many decades. Such is the case of Spain, in which it is essential to design proper strategies to re-activate destinations with an integrated focus.
