I was completely unfamiliar with the aerodrome at Ans (Liege) in Belgium, so this slim volume was most enlightening.rnFounded in 1910 by the Aero-Club Liege-Spa, it survived until 1945, by which time it had come under serious threat from encroaching coal-mining operations. A dramatic photograph of Avro 504Ns with an enormous slag-heap as a backdrop graphically portrays the problem.rnThere was an inaugural flying meeting at Ans in October 1910, and in 1911 it was a staging point for the Circuit of Europe among other events, and had a circuit for air racing.
